And the reason given isn’t lack of service. It’s because Solomon’s foreign wives turn his heart astray and so God promises to tear the kingdom away from him. Rabbi Fohrman’s answer adds a whole new dimension to the story of Solomon and the symbolism of the nearly split baby.
