Bring the Victims of October 7 into your Sukkah with this Memorial Reader
This year, October 7th falls on the first day of Sukkot. The Hebrew yahrzeit is, as always, Simchat Torah. Is there anything more dissonant than the grief and the joy of this time? That's why we created this Memorial Reader. This unique reader builds upon the tradition of ushpizin by inviting not just our beloved ancestors like Avraham and David into the sukkah, but also the souls of those we lost on October 7th. Print it out, learn from it each day, and let their memory be your most honored guests.
What You'll Find Inside the Reader
Invitation to the Day's Guests
Each section of the Memorial Reader begins with the traditional invitation to that day's spiritual guest, accompanied by an invitation to those killed on October 7th or in captivity in Gaza, as well as the hostages still alive in Gaza. This invitation is followed by the names of individual victims, with the entire list of names divided across the seven days.

7 Devrai Torah by Rabbi David Fohrman
Each sections continues with a dvar Torah on that day's guest, adapted from the work of Rabbi David Fohrman, to be learned in memory of those we lost and in merit of the quick release of the hostages still held in Gaza.

Prayer for Captives
At the reader's conclusion, you will find a Prayer for the Captives, followed by the names of all those who were taken—both those who have since returned or whose fate we know, and those whose safe return we continue to pray for.
